All women of John Calvin Presbyterian Church (JCPC) are invited to participate in all or any of our meetings and events. Meetings are generally held monthly in member's homes starting at 7:30 p.m., September through June or July. Notice of our meetings is included at least 2 weeks ahead in the church Sunday morning bulletin. Generally, we meet on 2nd Tuesdays.
Our usual annual calendar of activities includes:
- September -- Fall Gathering; fellowship and sharing with the broader community of National Capital Presbytery; an overview of the new Bible study material, teaching suggestions as well as other community projects. Least Coin Offering.
- October and November -- Study, prayer and planning for our circle projects. Thank Offering, support for programs chosen on merit regardless of geographic location. At least 40% of the Thank Offering funds go to health-related projects.
- December -- Wrap/Warble/Wassail, fellowship and gifts for Shelter House families.
- January, February, March -- Meetings held in JCPC Lounge.
- April, May or June – Meetings continue in homes. Fund Raising project planning. Money raised is used to support Presbyterian Women mission projects such as assistance in constructing medical facilities in Kenya, support for Shelter House, and also as a contribution toward the building project at JCPC to construct restrooms for the upper level. We have held book sales, plant sales, silent auctions, and craft fairs. Other Spring events include a retreat, and every year we have chosen a wonderful, spirit filled different location.
- June or July -- Complete the Bible Study.
Prisca members also like to plan special fellowship trips... like a visit to Dunbarton Oaks, or Merriwether Post Mansion or Garden and Park events. It is a wonderful group of dedicated women, and new participants are always welcome. Please join with us!
