John Calvin Presbyterian Church actively supports work in a wide variety of issue areas. Volunteer Issue Coordinators facilitate activities within each area, many of which are conducted through or in conjunction with the Annandale Christian Community for Action (ACCA) and JCPC's Prisca Circle. Areas in which we are actively engaged include:
Hunger Relief (ACCA Food Pantry, CROP Walk, Souper Bowl of Caring, Alternative Gift Market, Meals-on-Wheels, Presbyterian Coffee Project, Cents-ability Offering) Issue Coordinator: Vacant
Shelter & Housing (ACCA Furniture Warehouse, "Rebuilding Together," Shelter House, Bailey's Shelter, "Help the Homeless Walk," Fairfax County Affordable Housing Campaign) Issue Coordinator: Prisca Circle, Beth Mason
Medical Assistance (ACCA "Meals on Wheels," ACCA Transportation, blood drives, Cystic Fibrosis Research fundraising projects, flu shots, special needs) Issue Coordinator: Virgil Bodeen.
Senior Citizen Services (Nursing homes visits and services, Annandale "Shepherd's Center") Issue Coordinator: Tom Moss.
Education (Belvedere Partnership, Community Ministries of Northern Virginia) Issue Coordinator: Doris Garlock.
Environment (EcoStewards study & project groups, church & community recycling) Issue Coordinator: John Ndiritu.
Social Justice (Interfaith understanding & community building, education & awareness programs, networking with selected action groups, Presbyterian Coffee Project) Issue Coordinator: Hunt Anderson.
Emergency Disaster Relief (Church World Service, PC (USA) and other humanitarian relief efforts including "Gifts of the Heart" disaster assistance kits) Issue Coordinator: Sheila Sperry.
