WHAT:
- JCPC ( John Calvin Presbyterian Church) is in search of a director of music !!
- The focus is to reach people with the Good News through music
- A part-time position ( approx 15 hrs per week) serving both adult and youth music needs
WHO:
- An enthusiastic musician able to lead individuals and groups of all ages
- A candidate with a music degree in vocal arts and/or sacred music along with previous experience in a similar position is preferred
- A leader excited about continuing our current traditional worship experience while exploring options in a more contemporary, transformational style.
DUTIES INCLUDE:
- Attending the monthly worship committee meeting and working closely with the pastor to coordinate worship music
- Directing the adult sanctuary choir and arranging special music
- Working with the Christian Education program to develop a regular music program with the youth – to potentially including a youth choir, Orff instrument use, etc
- Communicating to the congregation upcoming plans within the music department including but not limited to soloists, special performances, new pieces
Salary commensurate with experience and Presbytery/ AGO guidelines. Range is $18k – 25k

John Calvin Presbyterian Church(JCPC) in Annandale, Virginia is seeking a cheerful, outgoing and organized person to staff our front office. The primary focus of the position is to help JCPC reach people with the Good News. This individual will provide administrative and communications support to the pastor, staff, session and congregation of the church.
REQUIRED TRAITS:
The ideal candidate is an enthusiastic self starter and will be able to complete tasks with minimal direction from the Pastor and others. The employee will have a clear understanding of the mission and vision of JCPC. He/she is attentive to detail, demonstrates strong interpersonal and organizational skills and is comfortable with electronic communications and computer based files.
Duties include and are not limited to:
Receiving visitors and phone calls in a welcoming manner
Assisting the pastor with scheduling of appointments
Providing administrative support to develop presentations and sermons
Preparing weekly bulletin
Generating monthly newsletters
Scheduling building use and maintaining usage calendar
Creating brochures for special events
Updating website and other electronic communication sites as arise
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:
§ High school graduate or equivalent.
§ Two years of related experience.
§ Typing speed 40 wpm
§ Proficiency on personal computers and software applications, including web updates and newsletter development
§ Excellent writing skills to compose letters and reports
Hours – M-F 9 - 3
Compensation is commensurate with skills $14 - 18/hr.
